Manchester United could be poised to swoop for experienced AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes. AC Milan are said to be growing frustrated at the level of wages requested by the veteran defender and could be looking to offload him. United are an ideal candidate to sign him considering the long term injury to Nemanja Vidic.

Manchester United have been linked with 17-year-old German midfielder Leon Goretzka. The Bochum midfielder has been described as the new Michael Ballack and rumours from Germany state that the second division side would be willing to let him join any side for a fee of around £1 million.

Manchester United could be in line to sign Spain and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. Ramos is reportedly unsettled by back room issues with board members at the club which has reignited links with Old Trafford. Ferguson has admitted interest in Ramos in the past and he would be a cast iron alternative to Rafael at full back.

Reports from Spain suggest that the striker is growing frustrated at the lack of playing time he is being given by Jose Mourinho. United have been linked with Benzema in the past before he joined Real Madrid.

Sir Alex Ferguson is set to win the race in the pursuit of Malaga star Isco. United have been linked with the ‘Spanish Paul Scholes’ for a number of weeks and are thought to be ready with a £16 million bid for the midfielder. Scholes is now 38-years-old and Ferguson seems to be actively hunting for a long term replacement with Isco fitting the ball.

Lars Bender is firmly on the radar of Manchester United according to a national daily newspaper. Bender has broken into the German national team due to some impressive and consistent performances for Bayer Leverkusen. The club have so far refused to comment on the speculation and setting a price for the player.
