MANCHESTER UNITED are keeping tabs on Vegard Forren who plays for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Molde. The
ex-Old Trafford hero believes the £4million-rated Norway defender, 24,
is good enough and said: “He could play for United, but I don’t need to
tell him that.”
Sir
Alex Ferguson must be getting tired of seeing his Man United side
concede goals with alarming regularity. Whilst it’s true that this has
in the main been down to the fact that key defenders are out injured he
will also be aware that those who are fully fit are simply not pulling
their weight.Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Nemanja Vidic are all
sidelined and have left Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and at times Michael
Carrick having to hold the defensive fort and they are not doing so
with a great deal of confidence at the moment.
Vegard Forren is by
no means a household name but perhaps he has the quality to make it at
Old Trafford? He does have the backing of his Molde boss, and former Man
United legend, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but one does wonder if such a
signing makes any sense?
Clearly if all his options are fit and
healthy then Ferguson has more than enough options to call upon at the
back and therefore one would have thought any possible cover, perhaps
purchased in January, would come in the form of an experienced old hand
to help the club weather the storm. A player like Fulham’s Brede
Hangeland. A move for a 24 year old Norwegian who only earned his first full cap in January wouldn’t appear to make a great deal of sen.
